Because we ended up in Carlsbad last night, it seemed necessary to go down and see Carlsbad Caverns, so that's what we did - took the short self-guided tour through the "big room" and walked out the 800-foot climb over 1.2 miles. Whew! Saw incredible speleothems of all types. (Like my fancy new vocabulary?)
Having spent a lot of our day getting there and doing that, we still crossed the border into Texas and are staying at the Hilltop RV park in Fort Stockton. It's pretty hot & sticky, but we have AC power and the fans are running, so it's all right.
Tomorrow we get up and run for Austin, or maybe Kingsland, depending. (Need to reach a friend to determine that.)
Dapple the Brave is dirty in and out, and so are we. This is dry dusty country!
