Long road day

Got up this morning in a campground outside of Huntsville - very pretty place, Harmon Lake Marina.  Headed out to visit Huntsville, where we had some brunch and wandered through an antique store and a music store, and then hunted up Dan Phillips' project houses.  Wish we could have been there for an indoor house tour, but the dates didn't work out. The houses are fantastic from the outside, but they are homes so you have to view them from the street.

hardware at the Bone House

The rest of the day was just road time, up through Nacogdoches and on into Louisiana. Burned out and checked into the Exacta Motel in Minden, to get ready for the REALLY long driving day into Atlanta tomorrow.

Notable today: M commented that we had not seen a single armadillo, and within an hour we saw our first and only armadillo, but it was sort of a shabby one, having lost a run-in with a vehicle - it was resting with all four feet in the air.  Looked sorta like one of those gauche purses that had lost its strap.

Conversation from the restaurant at brunch:

Our sides are yams, lima beans, cabbage, freedom fries, or mashed.

Do the lima beans have meat in them?

Yep.  The cabbage too.

What do you recommend?

The beans are good. And the cabbage. The freedom fries, those are just french fries.

I had lima beans. I hate lima beans. They were pretty good. So was the cabbage. I skipped the freedom fries.  If you're gonna ask for a recommendation, makes sense to take it.
